Program Management for Implementation of Cerner SurgiNet Perioperative Solution for LifeBridge Health

Situation:

LifeBridge Health operates surgical suites at both the Northwest Hospital Center and Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. Northwest and Sinai both use the ORSOS system; however, different versions have been implemented and maintained completely separately. As part of the clinical decision support initiative, LifeBridge Health is currently implementing the Cerner SurgiNet Solution to provide enterprise wide integration of clinical data. HCIC previously worked with Sinai Hospital’s Perioperative Services to upgrade their legacy OR system and to implement preference cards, case tracking and work with management on the process improvement in the surgical posting areas.

LifeBridge Health is now committed to standardizing the Perioperative processes and documentation across the enterprise wherever feasible. HCIC is working closely with the design team to combine the best of both organizations, as well as to explore best practices and patient-focused processes.

Solution:

HCIC provides LifeBridge Health with program management services for the enterprise wide design and implementation of Cerner’s SurgiNet Solution.

  • Managed the achievement of OR process improvements during the upgrade of the OR System Development and maintenance of the detailed work-plan/timeline
  • Development of the project documentation including, charter, organization charts, roles and responsibilities, scope, issues lists, task lists, Steering Committee presentations, etc.,
  • Coordination of overall project structure including workgroup structure and schedules, and minutes
  • Development and application of design and project guiding principles
  • Facilitation of interdepartmental collaboration and design for workflow and best practice implementation
  • Direction and coordination for the development of enterprise standards for scheduling, documentation, data dictionaries and more
  • Participation the development and execution of training plan Development of the Physician communication plan.
