Situation:

St. Mary’s Hospital (SMH) recognized that in order to continue providing excellent patient care and to improve the quality of outcomes, operational, managerial and clinical efficiencies must be optimized. Key information systems strategies and tactics were subsequently identified.

Solution:

HCIC assisted SMH with the development of programs key to a successful Clinical Information System. We collaborated with SMH in building the foundation (completing the required pre-implementation activities) so SMH can successfully deploy their key IS strategies and implement key tactical projects such as:

  • Help Desk Services
  • Service Level Agreements
  • Clinical Applications including Order Entry/Results Reporting, Clinical Data Repository, Patient Assessments, Care Plans/Pathways, Interdisciplinary Clinical Documentation, Physician Documentation, Clinical Decision Support, Pharmacy
  • Computerized Physician Order Entry
  • Surgery Management System
  • PACS and Radiology Information System

HCIC’s scope of work included specific tasks within 5 identified tracks: (1) Ongoing project management; (2) Organizational change/physician adoption; (3) Standardization/business process redesign; (4) Vendor due diligence; and (5) Infrastructure.
