Information Technology Planning and System Selection

LifeBridge Health – Baltimore, Maryland 

Situation:

Levindale is a long-term care facility and part of an integrated healthcare delivery system. Plans are underway for the construction of a new facility. Plans for information technology are needed to upgrade and bridge today’s systems and information to the future, as well as to integrate client information within the entire health system.

Solution:

Our first step in developing an IT plan was to document all the information flow processes so we could identify where connections were needed for the continuum of care. Key staff members were interviewed and process flows were created for each of the twelve major processes. Documentation was created. We prepared a request for solutions to present to several system vendors. We supported the selection process which included site visits and vendor demonstrations, contract negotiation and implementation planning.
