Caroline Samuels, M.D.

Dr. Caroline Samuels has twenty years of clinical experience in the Internal Medicine training programs at the District of Columbia General Hospital and Prince George's Hospital Center. She has been the physician lead and director of three ambulatory services including the Internal Medicine teaching clinics of both institutions.
Caroline Samuels MD has created and held Medical Informatics positions at D.C. General Hospital, Prince George's hospital Center and Medlantic Healthcare Group (now MedStar Health) starting in the 1980's. In each of these positions, Dr. Samuels has created working relationships between the technical and clinical groups to support the clinical process. She has extensive experience facilitating communication between clinicians and staff in Information Systems. She had lead projects selecting, contracting and implementing inpatient and outpatient Information systems and has also been responsible for soliciting and presenting practitioner requirements for clinical systems.
Dr Samuels organized and was keynote speaker at a local conference and vendor fair on the topic of Electronic Medical Records. HIMSS currently is using this model for its PACT conferences.
Recently, Dr. Samuels has managed the selection and implementation of an E-Prescribing system in the teaching clinic where she practices, and was subsequently hired by the vendor of that system to revamp the entire deployment and training strategies employed by the vendor.
Dr Samuels is the author and owner of the Ambulatory EHR Selector which is maintained and hosted on the web by HIMSS.
Dr. Samuels is contributing material for the update to the CDS (Clinical Decision Support) Workbook authored by Dean Sittig, Jerome Osheroff and Jonathan Teich.
