Mr. Brantner’s career spans thirty years in information systems, with extensive experience as an IS director and CIO, operating and project manager, a technical support expert, and a team leader for a variety of process improvement and IT implementation projects. He specializes in enterprise networks, voice and data communications, data center design, planning and operations, and new systems acquisitions.
Relevant Experience
- Successfully coordinated the installation of enterprise networks for four different organizations. Included researching current technologies, analyzing costs, and designing and implementing the networks.
- Upgraded networks to handle high volume very large image files. Negotiated with fiber providers of network services, resulting in being able to design and implement a high-speed and wide area network to all imaging center facilities.
- Implemented voice service technology to support the creation of a centralized call center for appointment scheduling and patient follow up.
- Selected hardware and software vendors on a number of different projects including creating requests for proposals, proposal evaluation, vendor demonstration and selection and contract negotiation.
- Designed and build computer/server room facilities including coordinating construction managers and equipment vendors. Facilities were designed with full backup capabilities to make them safe and secure.
- Planned large data storage facilities. Researched and implemented a cost effective, reliable, and scalable method of storing diagnostic images among hardware platforms, resulting in a reduction in costs of over 25%.
- Developed and tested disaster recovery plans for data centers.
- Implemented enhanced network security by limiting access through multi-layer firewalls, network ports and implementing 24x7 alert notifications.

Prior Experience
Mr. Brantner was most recently in charge of all information services for American Radiology Services, an 80-radiologist mega-practice that provides serves in the Maryland and Delaware region encompassing 18 imaging centers, 12 hospitals, and nighttime radiology interpretations for 30 hospitals in 4 states. Prior to ARS, he was Director of Systems and Operations for the University of Maryland Medical System where he was involved in developing one of the earliest interface engines used in a healthcare environment. He was also Communications Manager for Clarke American, the nation’s third largest check-printing corporation. Prior to Clarke American, he was an applications programmer and manager of operations for Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, the third largest healthcare facility in Baltimore.
